On behalf of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), I would like to welcome all delegates to the Himalayan Travel Mart 2017 being held in Kathmandu, Nepal 1-4 June 2017.
This inaugural event, which is an initiative of the PATA Nepal Chapter and hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism & Civil Aviation, is organised with the Nepal Tourism Board, and supported by PATA and other leading Tourism Organizations.
PATA, established in 1951, is celebrating over 65 years of service to the travel and tourism industries, and the PATA Nepal Chapter, since it’s inception in 1975, has on behalf of it’s private and public sector members, and the tourism community, championed thestrategic goals of PATA in terms of Marketing Opportunities, Heritage Conservation, Workshops, Trainings and Seminars. This industry support also included hosting the PATA Adventure Travel and Responsible Tourism Conference and Mart in 2010 and 2011. The Himalayan Travel Mart therefore is a continuation of this commitment to the development of responsible and sustainable tourism in Nepal and the region.
Together with the International Travel Bloggers & Media Conference on the 1st of June, and the HTM Conference on the 2nd of June, including presentations from leading industry advocates, we are sure that this business to business event will attract buyers, sellers and industry professionals from around the world with an interest in Nepal and the Himalayan Region.
I encourage industry delegates attending the Himalaya Travel Mart 2017 to also enjoy the many attractions on offer, from the beautiful mountainous scenery to the UNESCO World Heritage sites, as well as the unique culture and cuisines of the country, while experiencingthe warm and friendly hospitality of the Nepalese communities.
In the spirit of cooperation and friendship, PATA and I support this event, and look forward to help in making it a memorable occasion for all participants. I take this opportunity to wish you all every success for a productive and enjoyable Himalaya Travel Mart 2017.
